For the third year running, the Language Laboratory at the Miguel Hernández University of Elche is offering IRIS UMH, a free blended-instruction program for learning English. What's more, a new feature this year is LLUMH, a similar program for learning the Valencian language. Both programs are open to undergraduate and graduate students alike, as well as UMH faculty, research personnel, staff, and alumni, in addition to employees at the UMH Scientific Park. The IRIS UMH and LLUMH platforms, as well as the classroom sessions, will be available starting October 2.
In the fifth edition of the U-Ranking of Spanish Universities produced by the BBVA Foundation and the Valencian Institute of Economic Research (IVIE), the Miguel Hernández University of Elche (UMH) occupies the fifth position in the ranking of best Spanish universities along with six others. In the ranking's classification for Innovation and Technological Development, the UMH is sixth, and in terms of employability, the UMH places eleventh. What's more, most of the bachelor's programs offered at the UMH are ranked among the top five positions in terms of this ranking's criteria of Teaching, Research, and Innovation & Technological Development.

A special commission for this event is coordinating several initiatives that the university community is promoting or proposing to celebrate this milestone.
The Vice Rectorate for Research and Innovation and the Service of Research Management - TTO at the Miguel Hernández University of Elche (UMH) have produced the 2016 Research Report. Last year, resources acquired by the UMH grew to 11,901,738.42 euros, which was a slight increase with respect to the funding raised in 2015. The Miguel Hernández University of Elche (UMH) and the Alicante Press Association (APA) have announced the seventh edition of the Pepe Andreu Radio Award for journalism, which was created in 2008 by both institutions to honor this Elche journalist. This award, endowed with 3,000 euros in prize money, strives to stimulate the work of radio professionals.
