Those qualified according to education systems outside the European Higher Education Area can be admitted to a master's program without requiring the accreditation of their qualifications, subject to verification by the University that these qualifications certify an educational level equivalent to the corresponding official university qualification which meets the requirements for admission to post-graduate courses in the issuing country. Under no circumstances does this admission procedure require prior verification of the qualification that the candidate holds, nor its recognition for any other reason than to study a master's.
Students will also have to meet the following requirements:
Information about the authentication procedure should be provided by the university of origin, the competent authority or consular services of the country of origin of the documents.
The procedures required for authentication will vary according to the country of origin of the qualifications and to whether there is an International agreement applicable for this purpose.
Authentication procedures are the as follows:
Countries which have signed the Hague Convention:
Apostille: this consists in the recognition of the signatures of the academic authorities on behalf of the competent authorities of the country:
The apostille should appear on the original document.
Albania, Andorra, Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, Armenia, Australia, Azerbaijan, Bahamas, Barbados, Belarus, Belize, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Botswana, Brunei, Colombia, Cook Islands, South Korea, Costa Rica, Croatia, Dominica, Ecuador, El Salvador, United States of America, Fiji, Georgia, Granada, Honduras, Hong Kong, India, Israel, Japan, Kazakhstan, Lesotho, Liberia, Malawi, Marshall Islands, Macao, Mauritius, Mexico, Moldavia, Monaco, Montenegro, Namibia, New Zealand, Niue, Panama, Peru, Dominican Republic, Russian Federation, Saint ....
Countries which have signed the Andrés Bello Convention (Bolivia, Colombia, Cuba, Chile, Ecuador, Spain, Panama, Paraguay, Peru and Venezuela) and the rest of the countries:
They must be legally authenticated through diplomatic channels, to do so documents must be presented at:
1. The Ministry of Education of the country of origin for recognition of the signatures that appear on the original document.
2. The Foreign Ministry of the country of origin for the authentication of the recognition of the signatures made by the Ministry of education.
3. The Spanish Consulate in the country of origin for recognition of the signature of the previous authentication.
Documents which have not been issued in Spanish must be presented along with their corresponding official translation into Spanish.
For documents which have to be authenticated, the official translation should be made once the authentication procedure is completed. The official translation should include the procedure of the authentication of signatures. In any case, the presentation of the official translation does not exempt the original document from being presented.
They can be translated into Spanish by:
• By a sworn translator, duly authorized in Spain.
• By the Office of Language Interpretation of the Spanish Foreign Office and Cooperation.
• By UNESCO, the office of Ibero-American Cooperation or any other organization recognized by Spain.
• By any diplomatic or consular Representative of the Spanish State abroad.
• By the diplomatic representative in Spain of the applicant's country, or of the country of origin of the documents.
C. Payment of equivalence verification fee
The Generalitat Valenciana (Valencian Government) has set a fee for an equivalence verification of foreign qualifications for admission to master's or doctorate courses. This means that the fee for the evaluation of applications from students with foreign qualifications from outside the European Higher Education Area must be paid before this evaluation can be made. The fee is 155.22 euros until the publication of the Decree for fees for the 2014-2105 academic year.
