There are two evaluation systems that students can accept. CONTINUOUS EVALUATION (recommended). This option is based on the continuous realization of 5 mandatory practices that students must submit throughout the course. At the beginning of the semester, students will have an explanatory dossier of the entire subject, which will include a work schedule with the stipulated delivery dates. In this way, the student can organize their homework and know from the beginning the days of mandatory delivery of work. The grade of these written exercises is equivalent to 70% of the mark in the subject. Each of these works are valued differently depending on their importance in terms of the competences of the subject. The dossier includes the rules and specific objectives of each practice and their value in the note. 2. Attendance and active participation in classes (30%). It is essential to attend 80% of the practical and theoretical classes. In the continuous evaluation, the participation, debate and involvement of the student prevails. Therefore, in the continuous evaluation, delivery of all practices and class attendance are essential to pass the course.
In the event that a student suspends the subject, in the September and extraordinary call it will be presented in the NON-CONTINUOUS EVALUATION modality.
Mandatory reading manual: Simple History of Science by José Luis Comellas García-Lera, Ediciones Rialp, S.A. 1st ed., 2nd imp. (03/2007) Non-continuous evaluation:
NON-CONTINUOUS EVALUATION: In the case of choosing not to follow the system of continuous assessment practices and workshops, the student is advised to communicate it in the first week of the course. In this modality you can take a final exam of the subject, which will include additional questions of theory and practice. The test will include, on the one hand, a development test that will cover the theory explained in class, the notes and materials provided and the reading and study of the basic manuals of the subject. Also a second practical test that will be based on the writing of a journalistic text related to scientific dissemination from a material provided. The answers to the development questions and the practical part must be excellent from a spelling and grammar point of view.
Modality of continuous evaluation, recommended and consisting of five practices. And non-continuous evaluation, which consists of a single exam with short development questions and a practical exercise. It will be based on the basic bibliography of the subject.
The correction criteria will be detailed in an explanatory dossier that will be delivered to the student at the beginning of the subject.
