The main objective of this subject is to introduce to the student in the practice clinical and in the study of the operation of the body human sick. Disorders that occur in the body as a result of alterations in the physiology of each of the bodies, equipment and systems will be studied. At the end of the course the student must have acquired the following knowledge:
Competencies and learning outcomes
- Understand the basics of action, indications, and efficacy of therapeutic interventions based on available scientific evidence.
- Establish the diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment, applying principles based on the best information available and under conditions of clinical safety.
- Indicate the most appropriate therapy for the most prevalent acute and chronic processes, as well as for patients in terminal stages.
- Raise and propose appropriate preventive measures for each clinical situation.
- Acquire appropriate clinical experience in hospitals, clinics, and other health care institutions, under supervision, as well as basic knowledge of patient-centered health management and the appropriate use of tests, medications, and other health system resources.
- Know how to use information and communication technologies in clinical, therapeutic, preventive, and research activities.
- Perform functional tests, determine vital parameters, and interpret them.
- Basic physical examination.
- Learn how to perform a complete patient-centered anamnesis oriented towards various pathologies, and interpret the findings.
- Learn to perform a physical examination of body systems, as well as a psychopathological examination, and interpret the findings.
- Learn to assess changes in clinical parameters for different ages.
- Assess the risk/benefit ratio of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
- Understand the indications of biochemical, hematological, immunological, microbiological, anatomopathological, and imaging tests.
- Learn how to obtain and process a biological specimen for examination using different diagnostic procedures.

- 01- Know the pathophysiological mechanisms that are triggered in response to disease.
- 02-Know the symptoms and signs that are produced in the different syndromes.
- 03- Understand the symptoms and signs that may reveal a syndrome / disease.
- 04-Know formulate a consistent hypothesis in a syndromic process.
- 05-Know the basic diagnostic tests that allow support / reject hypotheses.
- 06-Explain the clinical work before an audience to reflect.

- 08-Carry out a structured clinical history that contains all the relevant information
- 09-Carry out a physical and a mental evaluation

- 011-Write clinical stories and other medical records of form comprehensible to others
- 012- Acquire proper clinical experience in hospital centres, low supervision, and use proper of tests, medications and other resources of the system health. Highlight the importance of the use rational of them resources health care available, applying the ethics of it efficiency

Methodology and grading
- Case studies: Learning through the analysis of actual or simulated cases in order to interpret and resolve them by employing various alternative solution procedures.
- Cooperative learning: Develop active learning through cooperative working strategies among students and promote shared responsibility to reach group goals.
- Solving exercises and problems: Exercise, test, and apply previous knowledge through routine repetition.

System and criteria of evaluation of the subject
Test exam (60%) (with 5 possible answers and only 1 valid answer; each wrong answer deducts 0.25). Questions short/clinical cases (40%). Total (70%)
30% continuous assessment: includes practices, work, resolution and presentation of clinical cases, workshops and portfolio (30%)
On internships, assistance is considered, as motivation, interest, knowledge, skills, clinical reasoning, communication, professionalism, and attitudes. Assistance is valued in workshops, as interest and knowledge. Participation, preparation and resolution of clinical cases is compulsory and knowledge, clinical reasoning and participation is valued.
The qualification of the continuous assessment obtained from the regular call will remain in the extraordinary call and successive provided that it has passed to 3rd degree.
The level of passed stands at 50% of the maximum rating possible, for the theoretical exam and continuous assessment. This cutoff point of past applies both in the regular call as extraordinary.
In the December extraordinary exams, test and short questions and clinical cases will be replaced by a review of 15 short questions which will include clinical cases.
