This group, Research in Occupational Therapy (InTeO), is an emerging unit at the Miguel Hernández University of Elche that aims to contribute to developing, advancing, and strengthening research in occupational therapy. The initial interest in forming this group arose from the need to adapt and validate instruments used regularly in the field of occupational therapy, for their assessment prior to interventions, given the scarcity of instruments validated in Spanish. In addition to this first objective, this group intends to build on scientific evidence of occupational theoretical bases and interventions of occupational therapy in diverse areas of study, such as mindfulness, occupational balance, and sensory processing during different stages in the life cycle.
Group objectives include:
1) Adapt and validate assessment instruments in occupational therapy.
2) Describe and explore factors associated to the concept of occupational balance during different life stages.
3) Evaluate the use of the mindfulness technique as an occupational therapy intervention in different health outcomes throughout different stages of the life cycle.
4) Explore parental and child factors associated with the altered sensory profile in school-aged children.
