"International Management of a Company¿ is an elective subject with 6 ECTS credits, which is equivalent to 150 hours, and given in the second semester of the fourth year of the Degree in Business Administration and Management.
The Business Administration and Management degree provides professional and versatile training which prepares students to either start up their own business, or carry out a wide range of management and administration functions in both private companies and public institutions. It is for this reason that the contents of this subject are of great interest to students who are interested in working in companies that are internationalized, are involved in some type of international activity or going to initiate their expansion abroad. It offers a vision of the aspects to be taken into account when making decisions about the internationalization process of a company, and the typical characteristics of international companies.
Students start from the basis of their initial education in Strategic Management, so they will be familiar with the basic concepts about business strategy. These concepts will be a reference for the development of this subject, and will have to be broadened and adapted to the context of an international company. In this sense, the subject aims to educate students in the basic knowledge that will enable them to understand, the specific functioning of a company that operates or aims to operate in an international context from a general management perspective.
This subject provides a comprehensive vision of the areas dealt with so far, and especially, in the area of business organization in relation to the process phases of the Creation, Administration, Management and Strategic Direction of a company. Students will, therefore, be able to cope in a global economic context and be in condition to contribute to the good functioning of a company and the improvement in results through their activities, with ethical values and an awareness of the social function they carry out.
Its aim is to analyze the internationalization process of a company and the different strategies that are available to carry out this process.
To sum up, the final aim of the subject of International Management of a Company is that students develop a series of aptitudes and attitudes which enable and motivate them to start up and/or direct an international management project based on the knowledge and basic skills developed, which will enable them to cope with the challenges involved, typical of our global environment, increase business dynamism and thereby contribute to the economic and social development of our environment.
