Knowledge and skills for clinical evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of infections associated with therapeutic procedures (cardiovascular prosthesis, prosthetic joints and osteosynthesis materials, catheters, intracranial devices, endotracheal tubes, etc.) and post-surgical infections (superficial and deep surgical wound infections). Knowledge and skills for clinical evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and monitoring of immunocompromised patients (neutropenia, solid and hematological tumors, solid organ transplantation, hematopoietic progenitor transplantation, immunosuppressive therapy) with opportunistic infections by bacteria, mycobacteria, viruses, fungi, or parasites.

Objectives (Learning outcomes)
- INFECTIONS ASSOCIATED WITH DIAGNOSTIC AND THERAPEUTIC PROCEDURES: 1) Know the epidemiology, microbial etiology and pathogenic mechanisms of infections associated with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures used in clinical medicine; (2) Understand the main characteristics of infections associated with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures (cardiovascular prosthesis, prosthetic joint and material of osteosynthesis, intracranial devices, catheters, tubes, endotracheal, etc) and post-surgical infections (superficial and deep surgical wound infections); (3) Learn to orient the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of the main infections associated with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
- INFECTIONS IN IMMUNOCOMPROMISED PATIENTS: 1) Learn about epidemiology, microbial etiology and pathogenic mechanisms of infections in immunocompromised patients. 2) Know the main infections in immunocompromised patients hematological characteristics, including neutropenicos. 3) Main characteristics of infections in transplant patients (solid organ and hematopoietic progenitors). 4) Learn about the main features of infections in patients with tumors solidos. 5) Know to orientate the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of main infectious syndromes in immunocompromised patients.

Methodology and grading
- Case studies: Learning through the analysis of actual or simulated cases in order to interpret and resolve them by employing various alternative solution procedures.
- Lecture: Pass on knowledge and activate cognitive processes in students, encouraging their participation.
- Problem-based learning: Develop active learning strategies through problem solving that promote thinking, experimentation, and decision making in the student.
- Solving exercises and problems: Exercise, test, and apply previous knowledge through routine repetition.
- There will be a face to face, written, type test exam, with multiple choice (five options and only one correct answer) that will consist of 25 questions covering the specific contents of the subject.
The rating system will be over 100:

- Attendance at face-to-face activities: 20%
