This group focuses its activity on expanding knowledge of diverse modulation mechanisms of potassium channels. Our objectives are defined as follows:
1. Examine supramolecular assemblies, which are associated with a cooperative response of their opening and closure to the passage of ions (coupled gating).
2. Analyze inactivation mechanisms.
3. Study the association between the channel protein and diverse membrane lipids.
4. Study the interaction between the channel and diverse ions that flow through the pore or that block it, and which in all cases, act as genuine effectors on the protein structure and its stability, constituting the very basis of permeation processes and ionic selectivity.
