At present the contents of medical - legal area are fundamental for the development of the different professions that shape the qualifications assigned to the Sciences Partner Sanitary and of specific form to the Chiropody. The Legal Medicine like discipline is fundamental for the formation of the future chiropodist and the development of his professional career from the perspective dle Sanitary Law and the Professional Business ethics, the Valuation of the Bodily injury and the Expert world and in new fields of development as the professional Pathology or the applications in Criminology.
General competencies
- Know the economic, cultural, and social factors affecting the health science professions, as well as the economic, ethical, and social applications of professional decisions.
- Know current legislation that affects practicing the profession.
- Apply the professional codes of ethics and conduct considering user rights and current legislation.
- Capacity to analyze, evaluate, and assess individual and collective situations, identify problems, interpret data, and formulate solutions to individual or collective problems.

Specific competencies
- Know and apply the theoretical and methodological fundamentals of podiatry.
- Acquire the ability to perform patient-centered clinical management in health economics and the efficient use of health resources, in addition to effective management of clinical documentation with a special focus on privacy.
- Identify that the professional practice is rooted in respect for patient autonomy, the patient's beliefs, culture, and genetic, demographic, and socioeconomic determinants, applying the principles of social justice and understanding the ethical implications in a changing global context.
- Incorporate ethical and legal principles in professional practice, always acting based on complying with ethical obligations, current legislation, and normopraxis (doing well) criteria, integrating social and community aspects in decision making.

- 01To know the role and importance of the discipline in the labour area of the chiropodist.
- 02To know and to apply the professional legislation and deontology applicable to the Chiropodist's profession as well as to value the consequences of her breach.
- 03To know and to apply the basic foundations of the Legal Medicine in the relations of the chiropodist with her patients, companions of profession and other sanitary professionals from a legal point of view and deontológico.
- 04To be able to analyze the practical problems related to our discipline and adopt a decisive attitude before them.

Methodology

Grading
- The course is assessed by a test of multiple choice questions and / or PRAC, including theory and practice (accounts for 60% of the final mark) and attendance and participation at the workshops and conducting guided study (40 % of fine note lde the subject).
