Theoretical fundamentals and methodological principles: theoretical frames of reference, models, techniques, evaluations, and assessments in occupational therapy necessary for recognizing and interpreting the processes of occupational function-dysfunction.
Fundamentals of Occupational Therapy is a required course offered during fall semester to second-year occupational therapy students at the Miguel Hernández University of Elche.
This course aims to develop competencies that will permit the student to learn the profession¿s foundations (basic concepts, ethical principles, functions of the occupational therapist, areas for action, etc.), understand and apply the knowledge related with occupational science and the fundamentals of occupational therapy (knowledge of theoretical fundamentals and philosophical principles, conceptual basis, models, methodologies, techniques, evaluations and assessments in occupational therapy) necessary for recognizing, interpreting and intervening in occupational function/dysfunction.
Taking this course will permit the students, as future professionals, to carry out their work safely and reliably within the different contexts where they perform their role.
