Professional interest

This subject aims to provide the future occupational therapist with competences that allow him to understand and apply knowledge about the fundamental role of the discipline of Occupational Therapy in the development of children and adolescents. The student will also be introduced to the different areas of intervention from Occupational Therapy in Pediatrics, his participation in work teams and the latest research in evidence-based work models.

01That the student is able to know and develop the functions of the occupational therapist with children and adolescents
02That the student be able to know and describe the role of Occupational Therapist within the multidisciplinary team.
03The student will be able to know the normotypical development of the child and be able to apply their knowledge in clinical practice.
04That the student is able to know and describe the different intervention models that can be carried out from Occupational Therapy in pediatrics.
05That the student knows in depth the functions of the Occupational Therapist in the intervention with children and adolescents with clinical diagnosis.
06Let the student know the latest developments in research and practice based on evidence.
07That the student is able to know and administer developmental evaluation tests, in children and adolescents.
08That the student be able to develop intervention projects from Occupational Therapy in pediatrics.
09That the student is able to know and manage the pediatric evaluation tools.

Methodology and grading

Grading

> 70% Theoretical examination:
The student must complete a developmental test with 10 open-ended questions. Minimum mark to approve the subject: 5.
30% Practical:
- Attendance to internships is compulsory. The student should attend the 5 practical sessions and carry out the work proposed during the sessions. Punctuality, attitude and participation will be punctuated.
- 1 practice may be absent for justified reasons. If the student lacks more than one practice and / or the absence is not justified to pass the subject, it will be necessary to perform a practical final examination of each one of the practices.
It will be essential to get a 5 to approve the practical part
The workbook will be valued to be delivered at the end of the same.
Final grade: The grades of the theoretical module and the practical module will average each other whenever both are superior to 5. The grade of the subject will correspond to 70% to that of the theory exam, and 30% to the practices.
Final grade = Note Theory x 0.7 + Practical Note x 0.3
