Professional interest

The knowledge in perception, attention and memory are essential in specialties such as Neuropsychology, Psychology of Communication, School Psychology, Developmental Psychology ... thus becoming a mainstay of many jobs.

Competencies and learning outcomes

General competencies

Understand the structure and function of the human body at different stages of development.
Recognize the differences between normal human body function and its changes and determine the impact from demographic, environmental, social, and cultural determinants of the health of a population.
Ability to update, consolidate, and integrate new knowledge to improve the exercise of the profession using continuous self-learning techniques and critical analysis.

Specific competencies

Understand the basics of human behavior from the sources of scientific information in psychology and other health field disciplines.
Understand normal and pathological functioning of basic psychological processes from which to make a diagnosis.

Objectives (Learning outcomes)

01The student should be able to recognize the concept of perception and desarrrollar their historical background, their current study techniques, the determinants of this cognitive process under study information processing and conveniently evaluate the perceptual process .
02The student should be able to recognize the concept of care and develop their historical background, their current study techniques, the determinants of this cognitive process under study information processing and conveniently assess attentional process .
03The student should be able to recognize the concept of memory and develop their historical background, their current study techniques, the determinants of this cognitive process under study information processing and conveniently assess the mnemonic process.

Methodology and grading

Methodology

Case studies: Learning through the analysis of actual or simulated cases in order to interpret and resolve them by employing various alternative solution procedures.
Solving exercises and problems: Exercise, test, and apply previous knowledge through routine repetition.

Grading

A continuous assessment that encourages students to continue the learning process will be used. The weight of the continuous assessment that activities in the theoretical and practical work and seminars will be valued classes shall not exceed 30% of the final grade. A final exam, with objective questions, which will weigh on the rating of 50% shall be made. The remaining 20% will be for monitoring the tutoring of students.

Assessment test characteristics

Theory: Obligative test type test with 3 response alternatives

Practice: evaluation through short questions

Correction criteria

Theory: Every two answers wrongly subtract a correct answer by applying correction formula.

Practice: Each correct answer counts a maximum of 5 points.

Additional requirements

The qualification will be saved in different years with prior notice to the responsible teacher
