Access
According to the provisions in Royal Decree 861/2010, which amends Royal Decree 1393/2007 (Section 1 of Art. 16), for access to official master's education, applicants must hold either an official Spanish university degree or one conferred by a higher education institution in a country belonging to the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) that entitles access to master's education in such country.
According to Royal Decree 1393/2007 (Section 2 of Art. 16), access may also be granted to those possessing a degree from an educational system outside the EHEA, without requiring its homologation, but following verification by the UMH that the degree represents an educational level that is equivalent to the corresponding official Spanish university degree and that it entitles access to graduate education within the issuing country. Access this way does not mean, under any circumstance, homologation of the degree the interested party holds, or its recognition for anything besides acceptance into a master's program.
Graduados, diplomados, licenciados, ingenieros técnicos, and those holding other engineering degrees who want to further their business administration capabilities in order to initiate their own projects that create value to their socio-economic surroundings, or who wish to play a proactive and dynamic role in organizations where they work or would like to work.
Likewise, individuals with a vocation for research in a field related to the social and legal sciences are also welcome.
Admissions
The basic characteristics that applicants must possess include language skills.
Basic knowledge of Spanish, just as Article 38.5 of Organic Law 2/2006, of 3 May, on Education, establishes in Art. 2 Section 2: "The students must possess adequate knowledge of the language the education is taught in. To this end, the universities may establish examinations that accredit such language proficiency." This examination, in the event there are applicants whose native language is not Spanish, will consist of two parts that will be given by the master's coordinator(s):
1) Reading comprehension examination. A text will be given to the applicant who will then write a summary containing at least 300 words. This examination will assess synthesis capacity, clarity of expression, and correct use of Spanish grammar.
2) Grammar and vocabulary examination. Questions will be asked about aspects concerning the grammar and vocabulary in the text presented (synonyms, the meaning of certain words, substitution of linguistic elements, etc.).
In order to pass the examination, the applicant must earn a score of at least 70 (out of 100) for each part. The final grade awarded will be either PASS or FAIL.
Admission criteria, as well as the announcement about the beginning, development, and end of the master's admission process will be posted on the UMH webpage. Likewise, the information and dissemination of these criteria and that of the program's academic offer is contemplated via the production of pamphlets and guides. Chats will take place publicizing this information to UMH undergraduate students.
