The Pathology and Surgery Department covers 9 areas (Pathological Anatomy, Surgery, Physiotherapy, Forensic and Legal Medicine, Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology, Radiology and Physical Medicine (Occupational Therapy), Urology, and Traumatology and Orthopaedics, which are taught in the undergraduate programs of Physical Activity and Sports Science, Law, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Medicine, Podiatry, Labor Relations and Human Resources, and Occupational Therapy.
It offers a teaching system based on seminars where clinical cases related to professional tasks are discussed as a means of facilitating learning. Practical activities are presented in skills workshops that have anatomical models, an adapted house (Occupational Therapy), as well as at three university hospitals, health centers, and podiatry clinics.
In relation to research, the department possesses a Polyvalent Research Laboratory (Surgery and Ophthalmology), a Labour and Forensic Toxicology Laboratory, and a Forensic Biology Laboratory, which develop different lines of research. Furthermore, it offers the Master’s in Clinical and Surgical Research, as well as the professional Master's in Occupational Risk Prevention.
