This group is comprised of three staff investigators expert in molecular biology, pharmacology, and biophysical techniques, which permits applying multidisciplinary approaches to examining receptors associated to ion channels, above all the nicotinic receptor of acetylcholine. Current objectives include advancing the understanding of coupling binding and gating and certain aspects in the biogenesis of these receptors, including the study of proteins involved in this process. The study of substances modulating the activity of the nicotinic receptor with special therapeutic interests is another objective.
