Objectives (Learning outcomes)
- 01To consolidate and to increase the basic knowledge on the clinical aspects, the diagnostic accuracy and the treatment effectiveness of the main surgical illness. Also to know their prognosis and prevention. All of these in order to become a competent general practitioner.
- 02To develop and to improve the clinical reasoning to evaluate and treat correctly the patients suffering from these illness, using properly and efficiently the different diagnostic and therapeutic tools available.
- 03To learn the specific skills and behavior taking part in the different surgical activities that the medical staff develop at the operating theatre, at the outpatient department and at the surgical ward.

Methodology and grading
- The evaluation of this subject consists of the following three parts:
A. Report attached to the student (10% of the overall mark of the subject, up 1 point) hospital tutor. Punctuality is valued; the interest; dealing with patients, families and staff; diligence in daily work activities.
B. The portfolio. Assessment by the general tutor responsible for the service. (40% of the overall grade for the course, up to 4 points)
the correct preparation of the 15 records of daily-area hospital activities will be assessed; outpatient area; surgical area (mandatory); the number of accredited skills acquired vouched for the tutors (a mandatory minimum of 20 rotary); quality reports epicrisis; the quality of the written medical records; the summary of activity performed; formative self-assessment report and delivery of complete monitoring record attendance
C. Exam (50% of the overall mark of the subject, up to 5 points).
At the end of the period of clinical rotating a single final overall exam for of all rotating be summoned. This test is multiple-choice with a minimum of 250 questions in total and 30 for each rotating period
