Professional interest

This course consolidates and extends the knowledge acquired by students in undergraduate education, serving to provide students with the skills needed for energy certification of buildings and energy audits.

Competencies and learning outcomes

General competencies

Design installations in buildings that, while making use of the technological means available, pursue the main objective of energy efficiency.
Master advanced theoretical concepts, which constitute a continuation of the basic training acquired in undergraduate education, for application in building installation projects.
Design installations in buildings using good engineering practices.
Size installations in buildings making use of computerized methods and tools based on a theoretical point of view, and contrasted from the practical one.
Properly observe application standards for different installations in buildings.

Specific competencies

Carry out energy audits in buildings.
Perform energy certifications in buildings.
Perform energy analyses in equipment and heat and electrical installations in buildings.

Objectives (Learning outcomes)

Knowing the system of Energy Performance Certificates
Manage official tools for Energy Performance Certificates
Learn the main energy indicators in the residential sector, its costs and rates
Know the process to develop for the proper conduct of energy audits
Knowing the environmental certification of buildings

Methodology and grading

Methodology

Cooperative learning: Develop active learning through cooperative working strategies among students and promote shared responsibility to reach group goals.
Lecture: Pass on knowledge and activate cognitive processes in students, encouraging their participation.
Problem-based learning: Develop active learning strategies through problem solving that promote thinking, experimentation, and decision making in the student.
Project-based learning: Realization of a project to solve a problem, applying acquired learning and promoting abilities related to planning, design, performing activities, and reaching conclusions.

Grading

The evaluation of the subject will be carried out through 3 exercises: A written practical theoretical exam (30%), a practical exercise of Verification and Measurement Protocols (30%) and a work for topic 2 (40%). A face-to-face job defense will be included.
