Professional interest

The general aim of this subject is to provide students with the knowledges and required capabilities to do feasibility analyses of projects in real situations

Competencies and learning outcomes

General competencies

Skills for writing, signing, and developing projects in the field of engineering wherein students are competent according to the regulated degree they hold, whose objective is construction, remodeling, repair, maintenance, demolition, manufacturing, assembly, installation or operation of structures, mechanical equipment, energy installations, electrical installations, industrial facilities, agricultural facilities, and manufacturing processes.
Ability to direct engineering activities in which students are competent according to the regulated degree they hold, as described in the preceding competency.
Knowledge about technical, scientific, and technological material that enable learning about new methods and technologies, as well as providing great versatility for adapting to new situations.
Ability to manage or supervise multidisciplinary and multicultural teams in order to integrate knowledge in complex decision processes, with limited information, assuming social ethical, and environmental responsibility in their profession in line with the social, economic, and natural environment they act in.
Ability to prepare reports, assessments, studies, and expert opinions based on critical analysis of the reality.

Methodology and grading

Methodology

Case studies: Learning through the analysis of actual or simulated cases in order to interpret and resolve them by employing various alternative solution procedures.
Problem-based learning: Develop active learning strategies through problem solving that promote thinking, experimentation, and decision making in the student.
Project-based learning: Realization of a project to solve a problem, applying acquired learning and promoting abilities related to planning, design, performing activities, and reaching conclusions.
Solving exercises and problems: Exercise, test, and apply previous knowledge through routine repetition.

Grading

Continuous assessment:
Theoretical knowledge exam (60% of the subject): An exam will be carried out in the virtual platform, which will include test questions about the theoretical contents. The minimum grade necessary to average the qualification of these exams with the qualification of the tasks of the virtual platform will be 4 out of 10.
Tasks of the virtual platform (40% of the subject): It will bring together all the activities proposed in the virtual platform, including work, problems or writing of works programmed for the subject. The minimum grade necessary to average the qualification of the tasks of the virtual platform with the qualification obtained in the theoretical exam will be 4 out of 10.

Single test evaluation:
It will consist of a theoretical-practical test (100% of the subject) between 5 and 10 questions of long development that the students will have to develop, where the mastery of the theoretical and practical knowledge of the subject will be evaluated.

Assessment test characteristics

The subject matter of the exam is the collection in the syllabus that appears in the program and that was explained during the academic course. This documentation is available to students on the virtual platform (https.//aulavirtualepso.umh.es).

Continuous assessment:
All the continuous assessment theory exams will be a test, will last 60 minutes and will be done through the virtual platform from 8:00 pm to 9:00 pm on the day indicated in the exam schedule of the academic year.
Practical exercises will be proposed that the student will have to solve. All deliveries of continuous assessment work will be made through the virtual platform on the date indicated in the exam schedule of the academic year.

Single test evaluation:
All the evaluation exams with a single test are of a duration of 180 minutes and will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the classroom and on the date indicated in the exam schedule of the academic year.

Correction criteria

Continuous assessment:
The theoretical exam will be a test type (60% of the final grade), with four answers where only one of them will be correct. Three questions poorly answered, will cancel a correct question and those not answered will not score. The minimum grade necessary to average the qualification of the theoretical exam with the practical exercises of the virtual platform, will be of 4 out of 10.
The practical exercises (40% of the final grade) will be scored as specified in the virtual platform. The minimum grade necessary to average the qualification of the practical exercises of the virtual platform with the qualification obtained in the theoretical exam, will be of 4 out of 10.

Single test evaluation:
It will consist of a theoretical and problem test (100% of the final grade) between 5 and 10 questions of long development that the students will have to develop, where the mastery of the theoretical and practical knowledge of the subject will be evaluated.
All the evaluation exams with a single test are of a duration of 180 minutes and are face-to-face.

Additional requirements

In the case of choosing the single test evaluation, it is advisable to bring a calculator.
