Dr. Jorge Manzanares Robles coordinates the Translational Neuropsychopharmacology Research Group, in which 3 postdoctoral investigators (María Salud García Gutiérrez, Francisco Navarrete Rueda, and María Auxiliadora Aracil Fernández) also belong. The group carries out its investigative tasks at the Institute of Neurosciences of the Miguel Hernández University of Elche.
Three of the group's four members have been working together since 2008, the year in which they became part of the Network of Addictive Disorders (RETICS Program, Institute of Health Carlos III, CSIC) within which they collaborate with Dr. Gabriel Rubio Valladolid, a specialist in the field of drug dependence. During the last 5 years, the PI and his team have published 50 papers in scientific journals within the top decile in the areas of addiction and pharmacology, and moreover, have participated in 8 basic-clinical research projects. Currently, its PI has more than 3,823 citations and an h-index of 36. The investigative group possesses vast combined experience, especially in the field of drug dependence, having as objectives the search for and study of new therapeutic targets and the development of pharmacotherapeutic tools that may be beneficial in the treatment of dependence on drugs of abuse. Likewise, the group members are masters of a multitude of the laboratory techniques (animal models, quantification of gene and protein expression, human sample processing (plasma, lymphocytes)) necessary for achieving their stated objectives.
